PolyYapp

How we research

This site is written by the people who make PolyYapp, and some of it compares PolyYapp with apps it competes with. That is a conflict of interest, so here is exactly where the facts come from and what we did not do.

Who writes these

Pages are published by A.I. Software, the developer of PolyYapp. There is no separate editorial team and no paid placement: nobody pays to appear on a page, and no competitor link is an affiliate link.

What we know first-hand

Everything this site says about PolyYapp is checked against the app’s own source code and the live App Store listing, not against marketing copy. Where the two disagree, the code wins: the store description, for example, is older than the app and undercounts its exercise types. Numbers such as the number of exercise types or the approximate size of the word list are kept in one data file and printed from there, so they cannot drift between pages.

The screenshots are PolyYapp’s own App Store screenshots. Any figures visible in them, such as a streak or a lesson score, belong to the screenshot and are not a measurement of anything.

Where other facts come from

Competitor apps: their App Store listings and privacy labels, Apple’s public lookup data, the developers’ own websites and help pages, and, where a claim depends on it, third-party sources that are named as such. Every competitor record carries the date it was checked and its sources.

Exams and rules: facts about inburgering and the Dutch state exams are checked against the official sources, inburgeren.nl and DUO, and each topic page lists the pages it relied on and the date. Commercial exam sites are used to find questions, never as the citation. Where a rule could not be confirmed officially, the page says less rather than guess.

What we did not do

We do not publish prices, ratings or download counts, ours or anyone else’s: they change faster than pages do, and they differ between countries. Competitor apps are described from their listings, documentation and reviews; unless a page says otherwise, we did not run a structured test of each app, and claims that could not be verified are marked as unverified.

How user reviews are used

App Store reviews are read in bulk to find recurring complaints. A complaint appears on a page only when it recurs, it is attributed to users rather than stated as fact, and a single review is never presented as a pattern.

Every comparison argues the other side

Every comparison includes a real case for picking the other app, and every page about PolyYapp says what it does not do: it is a vocabulary app, not a full course, with no grammar lessons, no speaking practice and no Android version. A page that cannot name a reason to choose a competitor is an advert, and it does not get published.
